After obtaining his PhD in biochemistry, he spent several years working in academic research in the USA and France, before returning to Barcelona as Director of Business Development in Laboratorios Uriach. From this position he was the arquitect of the creation of Palau Pharma, the R&D spinout of Uriach, and its CEO until its final divestment. In recent years he has been consultant, Board member and CEO of several life sciences companies. Past examples are his tenure as CEO of Mologen in Germany (listed in Frankfurt), until its sale to Gilead Sciences and his board position in DRI Capital in Canada (listed in Toronto), a private equity fund that invests in royalty streams.
